Reinforcing braid offsets the effects of tensile forces on a cable. It protects conductors, all the strands and the cable jacket by absorbing mechanical loads which at times can be very severe. When producing our special cables we weld this type of braid into the outer jacket to relieve this type of stress, integrate it as a core in the center of a cable or apply it around the central cable assembly.
Hradil’s special cable production processes incorporate the following reinforcing braid materials:
- Kevlar is an extremely abrasion- and tear-resistant aramid fiber. We always use it when cables are to be subjected to heavy mechanical loading. Furthermore, synthetic fibers such as Kevlar are significantly lighter than a metal reinforcing braid.
- Trevira is primarily made of polyester fibers (fleece), several qualities of which can be used as flame retarding synthetic fibers.
- Rayon is a synthetically manufactured viscose fiber made of naturally occurring materials
- Metal protective braids made of V2A stainless steel
