Not only semi-conductors, passive components and circuit boards but also cables will be affected by the imminent “RoHS” and “WEEE” standards, which forbid the use of lead, bromine and cadmium as from July 2006. In their search for alternative materials, cable manufacturers have run into some old acquaintances with properties that are able to fulfill both the EU directives and the needs of industrial use.
