With “extreme applications” continuing to dominate machine construction, automation and robot technology there is a clear need for cables with higher performance levels.
Since most the standard, off-the-shelf cables are overtaxed in this respect, more and more special cables are coming into play. An example of this is Liebherr’s Rheiningen plant. It has developed a special winch technology for the Japanese Honshu-Shikoku bridge project, capable of positioning bridge components weighing 540 tons. As their engineering partner Hradil Spezialkabel GmbH supplied the high-tech cables that had to remain operational under the most severe conditions.
